I am 13 +1 and have been suffering from really bad hip pain for the past week. This is my second pregnancy and I didn't suffer with that one. However, I had a forceps delivery because baby was back to back and got stuck. Afterwards, I suffered from the exact same pain for which I had phisio.
I have a feeling this pain I have now is related to my last delivery. Maybe my ligaments stretched or something??
Anyway, has anyone had this? Should I call my gp or sit it out a bit longer to see if it eases?

I know your pain. This is my 4th pregnancy and its the first time I have had spd. I am due next week and have had spd for the last 5 months. It is horrible and painful. I had to refer myself to physio ( adviced by my midwife) they gave me physio which in my circumstances didn't do anything because I have 3 slipped discs and sciatica. They gave me a girdle which holds my stomach up so the baby is not leaning on my pelvis. My advice is to speak to your doctor or midwife. They can test if you have spd by pushing on your pelvic area. If it hurts then you have spd. If you do have it don't hesitate to go to your physio department as it only gets worse as baby grows.
I wish ya good luck for the rest of your pregnancy x
Hi there,
Sorry to hear you are feeling pain with this pregnancy. SPD is not uncommon - this article might help you learn more about it, what the symptoms are and some tips for how to cope: nct.org.uk/pregnancy/pelvic...
Meanwhile, you may want to visit your GP for a test so you can get treatment and be a bit more comfortable.
Thanks for your answers! I have just seen the GP and she could not have been more unhelpful! Despite my history, she refused to have a look at my hips and has put my paid down to being over weight!! No phisio or assessment, she can just tell by looking at me!! I have to do as much exercise as possible (which is extremely painful) and it will get better! Grrrr.....
