Hi lovely, I think an anterior placenta means that you're likely to feel less movement as it acts as a cushion (I think)....But I think that's really the only implication xx
Hey lovely,
I had an anterior placenta with my daughter and just found out it’s anterior again with my current pregnancy (19 weeks).
I didn’t feel movement until 21-22 weeks the first time around and it wasn’t very strong until about 26 weeks onwards xx
Yep, I have one apparently. I was told it's absolutely fine and they only mention it as it acts like a cushion (or punch bag!) so when the baby kicks or punches, you feel it less and often because of that, later on in the pregnancy. I had a scan where little one was going bonkers kicking and punching and I couldn't feel a thing. I also suspect it makes your bump stick out more at first - or at least that's what happened with me.
Thank you so much 😊
Hi 👋
I know this was a few days ago but I too have an anterior placenta and agree with other comments about feeling baby's kicks cushioned. I was lucky enough to feel flutters of movement as early as 18 weeks, you really have to be tuned into your body and very still but definitely noticed these little flutters or popping sensations got stronger and stronger until they felt like more noticeable movements around 22 weeks.
The only thing no-one else has mentioned so far is there's a higher chance of baby being back-to-back for delivery because the placenta takes up room at the front and encourages baby to face the front to create more space for itself. Of course all babies will do their own thing but I was told by my consultant higher chance of a b2b and just something to keep in mind. Xx
I didn’t want to be a debbie downer and mention this 😂 but I had a back to back labour and delivery with my little one.
In all honesty, it wasn’t terrible. I know people say it’s more painful but if you don’t have anything to compare it to, you wouldn’t know. I had a natural delivery xx
That's so good though baby wasn't in distress and all went well - go you 😍 my consultant has said they'd try other things first to encourage baby to turn before "giving in" to a b2b because I have issues with my cervix already from previous surgeries but ultimately any safe, natural delivery is total goals isn't it 🙌 can't wait now 🥰 hope you're keeping well! Xx
Hi there, I am currently 31 weeks with an anterior placenta. I did read that movements can be dampened with an anterior placenta.
I personally felt movement from 20 weeks onwards and as baby got bigger, it surprised me just how forceful the kicks were and I can actually sometimes physically see my stomach move and so can my DH!
The only thing I have noticed is that baby is currently head down but back to back at the moment. I read that this is more common with an anterior placenta. My midwife did not seem that worried although she referred to the baby as ‘naughty’,
All the best! 🙏🏾
Mine was anterior, he was back to back until very late but he did “correct” position. I did have a large mass of retained placenta for 7wks which may have been unrelated but I was fobbed off a LOT until I ended up in hospital.
