Hi I'm currently 35+2 weeks, I was vacuuming earlier and felt a weird sensation in my downstairs. I went for a wee and when I wiped there was some thick gooey white stuff on the toilet paper, it looked like some of the pictures of a mucus plug that I've seen, not like any discharge I've had before. So I called maternity triage and told them what happened. I was told that the mucus plug is always slightly pink or blood tinged and I probably have thrush, so I should just get a swab at the GP. I have no symptoms of thrush and this discharge did not look anything like I've had with thrush previously. I'm feeling otherwise normal and baby is happily moving. I wish I had taken a photo of the discharge now.
But can you have thrush without any itching, soreness or redness? Is the mucus plus really always pink or blood tinged? Should I try calling again, go to the GP or just leave it? Thank you.

I am 34+5 weeks pregnant. I have been having the exact same symptoms. I was having discharge that I could only describe as yellow thick jelly snot (sorry for the description).
I actually saw my midwife who sent me to my local assessment unit at the hospital. The doctor who witnessed the discharge (Speculum showed some that has come out and was sitting inside to come out) she confirmed it was my mucus plug.
Mucas plugs don't always have blood or a pink colour to them I was told. However to reassure you mucus plugs do regenerate themselves. Some people don't give birth for weeks after losing it. However always be precautions as you can never Be too safe!
