Undissolved episiotomy stitches

Hi all, I gave birth 5 weeks ago, I had an episiotomy. The outer stitches have dissolved but I can feel the internal stitches havent. They seem to have hardened inside the skin. Is this normal? Are they going to dissolve on their own or do I need to see my GP?

Internal stitches can't be removed and should always dissolve in their own. You're probably feeling the would healing. I'd wait a few weeks more unless you think it might be infected

Thankyou for your reply. There are no signs of infection at the site of the wound ie no redness, pain or pus, but I do have temperature since yesterday, which I think I got due to tiredness and cold. Do you think the temperature could be due to infected stitches?

It could be it could also be a cold. If you're not sure where the temp is coming from worth seeing your gp
