Thw sweet sound of rain.

I'm sitting in a comfortable chair in my bedroom listening to the sweet sound of rain as it hits the roof & windows with thunder rumbling in the distance. It's so peaceful. It actually reminds me of my childhood visits to my aunt's house in St Joseph MO. we lived in southern CA & very rarely had thunderstorms. We hardly ever had rain in the summer & it was never peaceful.

i didn't like to hear the rain but i am sure loving it now after all of this heat and all the fires that are burning ...thank goodness and for all that have prayed to get some rain to help fight all of the fires ....i know there are areas that are flooding because of the rain so i am hoping this helps them to not get anymore ...wow ...it is really coming down right now and the boomers with it ..they are what scares me bad...have rods in the ground to hopefully keep us from getting hit ...when we first moved here it wound around one of the trees and split another ...sure don't want that again and they were twice as bad as what we are getting now ...pray to god to keep everyone safe and sound and to stop them where they are flooding so bad ....love and happiness to all ....be safe...

It seems that every couple of years some places flood & others burn. Then it swaps & turns around the next year. We have lightning taking out a transformer and/or splitting a tree every time it rains. A friend had their house burn down last month from a lightning strike. But they didn't have their house grounded. We do have ours grounded. Stay safe.

I love the sound of rain against the house. Meditative.

I think so too.

I do as well! I can sleep through most storms.

I live on my covered back porch when the weather's decent, and I just love being out there when the rain's coming straight down. I got to do that this afternoon, after weeks of 90-degree-plus heat. I can finally breathe again!

i hope the rain comes to the east coast soon to dispel the humidity and really enjoy it.

I love thunderstorms! I love watching lightning, just like nature's fireworks! Sleeping in with the sound of rain on the roof and rolling thunder... My favorite!

Listening to the rain makes it easy to relax and sleep. I can deal with thunder, but the lightning that's a different story. 😨

I'm okay with lightning (as long as I'm not out in it!), but wind terrifies me. If it blows too hard, you'll find me in the cellar.

I've been through 3 tornados since moving to AR. The wind is not my friend either!👍🤗

Oh, dear. I could never live there. I was lucky in that ours touched down on the next hill over, rather than the one we lived on, but the suction outside had me trapped briefly in my 2nd-floor apartment. Then it blew me across the yard as I tried to get to the cellar next door, and I only stopped because I came up against a fence. It was nearly 40 years ago, and I completely freak out now when the winds pick up.

The first one was in 1993. I was about 20 miles out of town cleaning up a house that we were going to move into the next weekend. The lights flickered a bit as the rain poured. Next thing I know my inlaws show up telling me that my husband is ok. I was shaking my head, what happened to him? I didn't know we even had a tornado. I got into town & saw the devastation. At the time we were staying in a 35ft travel trailer. I refused to stay in it again. Try moving your stuff from a storage unit piled in a horse trailer 2 days after a tornado! The 2nd tornado I watched from my front porch go across town. It was weird cuz we had no wind where we were but the sirens were going off like crazy. Again there was a lot of damage & several houses were lost & 1 person died. The 3rd one was just this year. We grabbed the dog & went to the storm shelter at the school. They wouldn't let the dog in so he had to stay in the car. Tornado went right over the top of us. Luckily it didn't touch down. I was amazed at how well the teachers kept the K-6 kids calm. They were told to get in the safety position - on their knees with their head down & hands on the back of their neck. Nobody was crying or scared. After the all-clear, the kids lined up & went to their classes. Our poor dog was scared & so glad to see us. Now he gets a little scared when the wind blows when it's stormy out. We've actually had several come close this year which is unusual. But I have gotten used to them & there's always a watch before the warnings so I know what to do when the weather radio goes off with a warning. 🤗

I agree. The wind is not friendly in the south. Here in Georgia, there have been several tornadoes. Some touch the ground, and some don't. It can be very scary. 😓

My first real thunder & lightning storm after leaving southern CA was in Arlington, TX. We were staying at my inlaw's. She had a touch lamp on each side of the bed. We had gone to bed but about 2 hrs later there was a loud clap of thunder & at the same time the whole room lit up for a few seconds & those 2 lamps came on. Scared me to death. I just know I was levitating from all the electricity in the room 😂 The next day we watched the lightning hit the ground across the street. I eventually got used to it but still get startled every now & then.

My cousin met his wife when he was stationed in San Diego, and she then followed him to Norfolk, VA. After he was discharged, they went back to CA because the thunderstorms terrified her so badly that she said she'd rather deal with earthquakes.

There was a time when I felt that way. Earthquakes aren't that bad unless you live on a fault line, & they don't happen very often. I will still take an earthquake over a tornado any day though, & I've lived through a few bad earthquakes. As a matter of fact, the last one I was in before we left CA was on our wedding night! The little lady that lived next to us came over & knocked on the window & said "You newlyweds knock it off!"🤣
