I'm the same way I think it is so relaxing I fall asleep too. Lol I tell people that and they say with all that noise and moving. I really don't mind the MRI its nap time. 😁

I try the best I can, but when they do the full spinal cord it’s a little difficult because that table gets hard after about 1hour.

I tell the tech I’m going to sleep wake me when you’re done. No need to talk to me. What’s the point I can move anyway.

I did the last time, they do MRI of brain, cervical & thoracic spine so it's a lengthy time in the tube, they woke me up when they pulled me out to inject the dye. I went right back to sleep until it was all done. They put in ear plugs and a device to hold my head steady.. It's loud, but I dream of a beach in Maui with sea breezes and the sounds of the ocean.. 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌊🌊😴😴😴💤💤💤💤

I did with the last one after 10 mg of Valium! I’m sure I didn’t miss a thing.

tiffie07 , yes, I can hardly stay awake during an MRI. I try hard to stay awake because I'm afraid that if I get too sound asleep, I'll twitch and might ruin the test.

not me

I can sleep in them, as long as I am not having sinus drainage that day.

YES! I thought that was just me! Give me the warm blanket, and the ear plugs, and I am out for the count!

Tiffie07, it's Fancy1959. Oh yes I thought asleep in the MRI too! Boy it drives the tecks nuts but somehow I am soothed by all the noise and banging and I just conk out hard. I had them reaching in the MRI machine and grab me by the foot and shake it real hard to wake me up so I take the breathes I'm supposed to and to stop twitching in my sleep. I figure if I can sleep in that contraption I could sleep through most anything! I thought I was the only nut that did that! Until we speak again take care. And please remember together we are stronger!

I have but then my leg spams tend to kick in and they have to redo a scan or two so I try not to fall asleep if I can help it lol

I thought my leg spasms would give me problems but my lower back started hurting. I thought I would have to press the big plug but I didn't have to. I was glad it was over with.

So funny to read all these posts!! I am also super relaxed when getting MRI's - except for the dye!! They laugh when I tell them to give me a blanket and wake me up when it's over! My husband, big ole retired military guy, had to tap out his only MRI. Told him about the hockey mask I have to wear etc. and he says "No Way!"

(Raises hand!) I have! I have!

One would think it would be the last place one might sleep but, somehow, I usually do fall asleep. Especially when they did my brain, cervical and thorascic MRIs all on the same day.

Now, the insurance won’t allow for such things and I end up having to do multiple sessions.

When I was still working, MRI day was wonderful as I knew there would be no text messages, emails, phone calls, etc. at least for the time that I was in the machine. It was blissful-except for the sounds of the monkeys playing bongos. (That’s what I tell myself the noise is- monkeys with bongos, kazoos and jackhammers.)

It had been a bit since my last MRI and the office had upgraded to earphones instead of earplugs. I became very excited when the technician asked what sort of music I’d prefer. I timidly asked for R.E.M. and the B-52’s (both from my hometown) and was pleased the young tech at least seemed to know of these “oldies.” Had he not been holding the needle for the IV of gad I’d have mouthed off and told him he should respect his elders.

Anyway, I was so excited about hearing this great music during the MRI...fast forward to the actual MRI and I’m stuck with one notch up from elevator MUSAK meets on hold music- complete with misses, hiccups and crinkles in the music.

I can handle this. No prob. However, after the first R.E.M. song, it switched to Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins. So much for soothing “Nightswimming” or sugary “Shiny, Happy People.” I’m encased in a metal tube with a needle in my arm and no way out being forced to listen to songs I gave no clue who wrote or who sang them.

I’d have preferred the ear plugs and my monkeys with the bongos, kazoos and jackhammers.

So, just beware of med techs bearing offers of music to lull you to sleep during your next MRI.

EVERY TIME! In my defense, they put a bolster under my knees, and a warm flannelette blanket over me. Perfect! zzzz

Me, too. I love to sleep in the MRI machine. Gads. All warm and cuddly under the warmed blanket then I'm out like a light!! Bliss!!

The first MRI I had was for my spinal cord, the sound was loud. I tried to listen to the music but I could only hear the banging. The second MRI included my brain. I think I did fall asleep the second time. 😴
