I have tried lager and cider and the effect is the same. The rash subsides overnight, leaving me with flaky skin. Are you aware of others with these symptoms and what can be done about them?
During the past two years, after I have drunk more... - MY SKIN
During the past two years, after I have drunk more than one pint of beer, I get a red scaly rash on my cheeks. Have I become allergic?
Your question contains the answer. You now have a social excuse to save yourself a small fortune and escape hazard to health from more than modest alcohol intake
Myself, for some years I drink beer only half pint in evening - very rarely a second half yet I have not been mocked nor driven out of Scotland. What is wrong with people who seem to believe they have to dull and disinhibit brain to enjoy socialising? A self fulfilling expectation?
Hi HW65SHL,
You may have the skin condition Rosacea which can be aggravated by alcohol and spicy foods. It can cause the face to redden, and also make it dry and flaky. You need to see your doctor to get a diagnosis.

Hello there, I'm a 50 year old female and my face goes red after most alcohol, especially wine (weirdly more with white wine than red - you'd think it would be the other way round). I've discovered that if I drink shorts, especially vodka, my face remains 'normal'. I agree with Darmog though, don't feel you have to drink. On my 'designated driver' nights, I stick to soft drinks and it's fun watching other people getting drunk, making fools of themselves! Plus no hangover the next morning!!!
