Is there any sign of a rash or other external symptoms and have you had a diagnosis by GP or other health practitioner? Potentially a lot of things it could be..........

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! That's the first thing. Any one will do, but generally the greasier the better. If you are hairy, though, try Doublebase gel, it's not so sticky. If you've got a rash associated with the itch, go speak to your GP. You may have something that needs thinking about more: have you swelling, have you eczema, have a different reason to be itchy? You need to think about and address the cause of the itch, then you will be sorted.

Also, simple tip is to use a moisturiser in the bath or shower in place of a soap or shower gel: this will clean you still, but will not dry out the skin, which could aggravate that itch! Lots of products out there to try both available on prescription as well as available OTC to buy? Ask your local friendly pharmacist, they may be able to recommend something to you. If they aren't sure, I can recommend some ranges to look at such as the Doublebase range, the Aveeno range, the Cetaphil range, the Dermol range, the QV range etc. there are many more as well.

Good luck!

Try using mild bleach on the shins and then washing it off. It is a possibility that there is not enough skin oil to protect the under layer of skin from being colonised by bacteria. Moisturising may cause problems in that some of the Moisturisers are could mediums for bacterial colonisation.

This is an area that requires a lot of experimentation to find out what works for you.

great news

Hi concil, how long have you been suffering?

Do you have any other medical conditions?

What were you doing prior to the start of the itching?

Do you have any allergies?

And, lovesradio has already asked, have you been to see your GP or anyone else?

Ask your GP --and pharmacist has a cream claimed helpuf for itch.

I wash with Dermol 500, it has antibacterial qualities. It can also be used as a topical cream.
