So far in my life 3 family members had cancer and passed. I was about 3, so I don't remember the first one. I was 15 when my 9 year old cousin passed, and 21 when my grandmother passed. I lost more people in my life but cancer changes how you view their deaths.My father was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago. I am 24, and I had been trying to live and not let it affect me but... I am afraid of losing him too. I'm afraid he won't be there, and everything he will miss in my life. I felt guilty for living so far away, but I'm now going back to finish my degree. I'm afraid that this history of cancer will also mean that I have until I'm 50 before I too have to go through it as well.
