Diagnosis Confirmed

So the neurologist confirmed the MSA-C diagnosis for my husband, Bart, yesterday. Even though she was leaning in that direction, everything else seems to have been ruled out and now the stark reality it’s facing us. I went to that last everyone in this group for all the help you give everyone because I see you all as the experts because of the life experiences. I will be calling on you all.

I think I saw a question from you about low blood pressure - if not you thensomeone else! I can't find it .

I would like to say two things. One is that MSA is a failure of body Control all the things a body normally does on its own without conscious action like blood pressure, peristalsis, widening of the pupils, temperature control are likely to go wrong not because there is anything wrong with the eye for instance but because the brain is either giving the wrong instructions or no instructions. This can be progressive or quite erratic .

also blood pressure is typically too low in the day and too high at night. Allowing that everyone is different of course. I feel that the remark about blood pressure being under control is a bit worrying.

It is standard advice not to sit in the sun or go to hot climates for holidays. Janno has it just right - as usual.the MSA Trust downloads are very useful for this information. it pays tobe well informed as with the best will in the world your medical advisers may not have come across MSA before or realise what a very perverse disease it is.
