Sedation for MRI

Are consultants justified in refusing heavy sedation for MRIs when patients are severely claustrophic?

My neuro wants me to have a brain MRI but has only offered 4mg lorazepam as sedation. I know from previous experience of both MRIs and benzos, that this will do nothing to alleviate my terror of the noisy coffin that is an MRI. Even a 'wide' scanner.

I have previously received something like rohypnol or midazolam via injection and this is what I need now. It would only need, at most, a few hours observation in a day bed.

Do I have the right to demand this?
