Hello Everyone. I would like to know if anyone ... - MPN Voice
Hello Everyone. I would like to know if anyone who has MPD. Have you had any tattoos done since you found out that you have this disorder
Hi There,
I've had a few since I was diagnosed, I take aspirin and was on interferon at the time of one and hydroxicarbamide another time. I didnt take asprin for 3 days before hand and booked it in a couple of days after i'd been for a blood check up to make sure my platelet levels where at as close to normal as possible. I wouldnt advised having it done if your platelets are too high above 500 or too far below as you can bleed a lot! hence me stopping the asprin just before. I'm not a doctor though so I would double check with your consultant before going ahead with it, but I have always been fine.
Hope that helps
Jen
Hi Komabrat, yes I have, I have ET, and have had a few tattoos over the last few years, I've never had any problems, though as Jennie says, you should speak to your haematologist before you go ahead with a tattoo just to make sure that it is ok for you to do so. Maz
Hi Komabrat. I had my first and last tattoo a few months ago, have had PV for 8 years. I had this sudden urge to do something new and to feel alive, so I got up from my desk at work went to a new tattoo parlour round the corner and had my 3 daughters initials on the back of my neck, under my hair. It didn't occur to me that I should ask my consultant or stop my aspirin. Had no problems and didn't bleed. Hurt more than I imagined, though i'm glad I did it.
Asking your consultant seems like a good idea. Mel
Hello,
I had my eyebrows tattooed and have had absolutely no problems what so ever at any time. I have done it four times now (of course the last three times just to fill them in a bit, I don't have four eyebrows!!!):-))
Hi I would like to get my tattoos freshened up and have been wondering if it would be ok. Good idea, thanks I will ask the heamotologist
