I am in my third week of detoxing from Triptans and all OTC meds. I noticed a pattern of a headache three days after taking Relpax at a 20 mg dose. I started Relpax in my late teens for migraines due to my monthly cycle. I am now 56 years old and the headaches went from twice a month to three times a week. I have been in menapause a while now. I was also diagnosed with arthrities in my neck C6 which I was told was the cause of continued headache issue. The first week of withdrawal I had 2 headaches one not so bad the other lasting for most of the night till 7 pm next evening. I am now on day 17 with 3 total headaches. The arthrities causes pain behind my right eye not a full blown migraine. Since coming off the meds the head pain goes away faster using cool and hot packs, magnesium and turmic. I was so tired of the drugged out feeling all the time. I thank God for his faithfulness in helping me thru this as I have tryed in the past and gave in and took the meds. I will try to give up dates on progress as blogs from others have encouraged me.

Detoxing from Triptans
Brilliant Sandy 😁 I'm 52 and done the same thing. I have less escalating migraine pain but have daily headaches which are more manageable with two drops of cbd oil.
I get jaw mugraines and have botox into the tmj.
I wear green migralense glasses which make a huge difference. I have only had 3 migraine with aura in the past 4mths which is amazing for me!!
I also have arthritis in my C6 but my eye pain has been confirmed to be my tmj muscle.
Stay well 😁
Please tell me where you got the glasses. I love the encouragement people give on this site
Hi Sandy 😁 i got my green migralense glasses from Amazon. Was really sceptical - how can green lenses stop migraine with aura?
I spent thousands of £'s trying to get this under control but these £40 glasses have done more than the cefaly, tens, Dhe, botox, chiro, physio....on and on...
Give them a go if you get aura the results I've had is definitely amazing 👍

I agree on the need to detox from triptans every once in a while. I see them as a last resort when nothing else works; food, hydration, acupressure, muscle stretching and relaxing, exercise. but I find the triptans stop working for me after a couple of months or so and then I resign myself to a full blown migraine and go complete cold turkey for a while. Seems to be the only way to get this pain out of ones system.
I am doing this long term as I got a bad headache not a migraine the third day after taking a triptan. The longer I go I am finding it easier to get rid of a headache. When you go cold turkey you may want to look at something to help you sleep through it. Since getting a diagonis of cervical headaches from arthrities I know anti inflamatories are a better treatment for me. I am doing natural ones since the OTC's cause rebound and upset stomach. I feel for you I use to get full blown migraines prior to menapause may God help you.
