The sunshine always enhances my mood and it is light until late .

I've never liked winter but my husband died on 2nd January and ever since then I feel really bad in winter. Summer, with good weather, able to go out without freezing, seeing flowers and birds, makes that the best time of year for me.

I suffer with depression all year round, but this time of year is really bad for me and find it terribly hard to cope. I am struggling alot at the minute and as each day goes by, it is harder and i also suffer with SAD which just adds to the depression, making me feel worse.

I know when your depressed anything is hard., but I decided to overhaul my diet etc ditched alcohol (that was hard) drink lemon water in the morning before anything else., eat lots of fruit veg etc., as well as the Vit D ., I take B complex ., my skin etc & the way I feel is so much better., I really do believe that what you eat etc has a lot to do with it., I know not all of it but it will help., I hope so for you !!! Have you had a thyroid check as well because that causes low moods., I am sure you have but just incase., hope 2017 will be better for you !

I am trying to lose weight at the minute so have been careful with what i eat. This week has been a real struggle though, because my mood is very low i have been eating everything in sight. I know i need to stop doing this as i don't want to put on the weight that i have already lost. Erm i'm not sure, i had so many tests carried out but don't know about a thyroid check. I need to make a doctors appointment so will find out. Thankyou ☺☺

My biggest problem for me was I used alcohol thinking it would help my depression., self medicating ., but it is a depressant on its own so made me worse., so stopped completely., started taking vitamins ., I feel so much better., I was dreading winter but luckily so far I am ok ., I have lots of fruit/veg lost weight with slimming world which has helped so much ., you feel better about yourself ., when I was depressed I didn't care about the way I looked but everything from my weight loss/skin etc ., I just feel more energetic & healthy.,I hate to sound ok when people are low & depressed but you can get out of it ., but I really think diet has a lot to do with it ., plus talking to people about your feelings ., I used to isolate with things going over & over in my head it was a waste of time ., I am on thyroxine for under active thyroid which can cause depression how my mind works now is you only get one crack at this life., after losing a dear friend at 44years old last year ., I know I am lucky to be here., at my lowest I was suicidal & I have come though it., when I was in hospital they used a mantra that I have never forgot 'this will pass it's not forever' (although at the time your in it .,you don't believe you can get well )but I did & I was at rock bottom., so I pray for all you suffering you will as well 🙏

Sunshine makes me awake, I feel happier and when in good company, otherwise it might as well be winter again.

Winter is the worst. I thought for the new year I would feel refreshed, but this week, it's been a struggle. I started a simple morning workout routine. Hope it helps!

Sorry just saw this ! Yes you are not alone when it comes to depression I hate the winter but for some reason this winter I feel ok (scared to say it incase it hits me again) when you are in you feel alone though., it's hard to explain the feelings to other people I just used sit there staring into space! Vit D at least 5000ius if not more ., I think that has helped me! Hope you soon feel better ! Spring not far away now 😁

I'm depressed mostly all the time but I don't like the sunny days that much actually. Winter or gloomy days are ok but I prefer the whether gloomy because it makes me feel more secure.
