Would you prefer separate Forums for diagnosis which includes depression eg Bi-polar or are you happy to be included under 'Depression' ?

! agree- there are symptomatic differences, as well as different approaches to treatment- and even within a category, there are different degrees of suffering, at different stages in the disorders. It would be problematic if the topics covered were too general, and therefore less in depth. Quite a lot of online forums are, in my opinion, too generalised and consequently less helpful to followers.

I'm happy as it is, as we can't generalise our symptoms and we learn from each other.we all come under most of these umbrella's and we all help and support each other through it.

Just which I would prefer

I think a bpd forum would be helpful as it's a wider diagnosis than bi polar etc and very complex.... and 10% of people are diagnosed with it compared to the 1% of schizophrenia and bipolar yes more people have depression and everyone helps out on here...but people with complex disorders sometimes need help from people suffering with similar illnesses and experiences. A forum for this would be a step forwards I believe. Xxx

Yes I agree I have BDP and it's really hard to find people who understand it x

If it isn't broken then why fix it.

Please don't break the forum up into bits we can all help each other, lots of symptoms overlap and people with specific issues can still help each other from within.

It is also useful to learn about other conditions which is useful for everyone.

Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt, I've no intention of breaking our forum into 'bits' I was just asking your opinion as I've been asked to look into it, so please don't worry.

Thanks Chloe, I will not worry.

Maybe the answer is for people with bi-polar for example to have a site dedicated to members with just this. It wouldn't stop them using the depression site as well coz has has been said symptoms often overlap. x

Could we keep a general forum for all with a mental health issue and have separate ones for more depth when needed? or is that too much to ask and expect of this helpful site? I do not come here very often so i am not sure i am entitled to a vote anyway but i have and have voiced my opinion to try and help all.

different forms as complicated and different people feel different things but with bi polar and bpd have complex issues that could confuse others.
