It did not represent any psychiatric ward I have been on and seemed quite frightening at times.

I will never forget the first Mental Hospital, It was in Newcastle and you walked into a central area, of the central are had passages, then the wards were down long,narrow passages, with coved ceilings, at the end was a locked door to the ward I was visiting, Most patients had their own room that was set around the activity area, that extended into a conservatory. What really got me was this passageway, I felt that the whole experience was like Alice in wonderland, you expected to see the rabbit at the end of this. tunnel At that time in 1971 I was training to be a youth Leader and had too visit different types of institutions I was just under twenty one years old. It was an experience that made a lasting impression on a young Youth Leader. The series brought back memories
