I think that greatly depends on your location - and even that can vary greatly! We live in Ontario, Canada. My husband received physiotherapy at no charge, also all of his medical appointments are at no charge. Such as family doctors, ENT, eye docs, urology.

He also received employment insurance for 15 weeks through the federal government; now he is drawing long term disability through his employer. It has been 9 months since his illness.

I would think he has received a great deal of support from myself and our family.

On your quesstion on support like the person from Canada it depends on what kind. Medical support I feel like was great. I didnt even know what meningitis was. Family and friends support was great. Mentally it is hard. One day you are a active person and then you hit a brickwall. You have your days but you need to get up and make the most of it. If you are talking about money issues that is hard. Myself I was hospitalizd for 45 days and while in the hospital by e-mail my employer terminated my job and benefits. Kick me while I am down. I had to use savings and retirement money for medical and everday expenses. I needed two operations but due to cancellation of medical I was put into a pre-existing condition and could not purchase insurance. Luckily I had enough credits built up in social security disability two years prior to draw it and thru medicare and medicaid I was able to have the operations done with one a ear inplant operation was done which has restord hearing to my left ear. One thing I am trying to get out there is more awareness on this virus and that there is a vacine for it. I dint know and if I had I would have taken it. Save a life spread the word.
