Hi

Behavioural problems can be an after-effect of meningitis. Changes in behaviour can be difficult for families, friends and schools to cope with and they can be a barrier to developing relationships at home and school.

There are ways to help. For example, the Meningitis Trust can provide creative therapies for children, which can help children in expressing difficult thoughts and emotions, following an experience of meningitis. We can also help by supporting the whole family. To find out more visit our website: meningitis-trust.org/how-we... or contact our helpline by calling 0808 08 18 388 or email helpline@meningitis-trust.org

Hi

I have the same problems with my son and his siblings. Its very hard to deal with and has been a constant battle for the last 5yrs. I have tried everything possible and it has put a huge strain on our family unit. With 4 children in the house it is very busy, but there are days when i feel i just cant cope anymore. my son only seems to have a problem with 1 of his brothers, so i try and spend time talking to them both together and letting them speak there feelings. This does seem to actually help and by the end they are friends again. I doesnt last long, but it does help. I also try and find a common ground with both of them and encourage them both to do things together. (the ipod is their bond at the moment). It might not be much, but its a start and so nice to see them both together.

sorry im not much help as i dont know your suituation, but im willing to chat more if you feel it will help. Please dont think your the only person having to deal with this suituation, im sure there are many more parents who feel the same.

take care

nicky.
