I had bacterial meningitis W in january this year, I was very unwell but have recovered pretty good, I still get headaches on a daily and my mobility is not the same as before, my feet are agony and I also get anxious and am terrified of getting even a cold now.
I went back to work in July, I was on a phased return and although it's tough I'm managing, my boss seems to have forgotten I almost died and that I now have issues I didn't have before, she is trying to put me on to a much more difficult and heavy job which I done before I got sick, I have said so many times that I'm not able, I don't know what to do as I obviously need my job but I know I can't do what she's asking. It's making me feel unwell.

Im glad to hear that you are back in work even if your boss seems to have forgotten that youre still recovering.
I actually started my phased return this week! after having had bacterial meningitis in Feb.
My advice would be to go back to your GP and discuss it. Especially if your boss is trying to make you do something that you are uncomfortable with. You are on a phased return for a reason after all!
I had pretty poor aftercare and had to push for everything. I have just recently had a meeting with a Neurology Occupational Therapist who gave me such a positive view of what they could offer me (and my family). They can visit my place of work to help with my return, neuro psycology, support groups and understanding the differences in me (the brain injuries that we all will have - to a greater or lesser extent) and dealing with them
She gave me more hope for the future just when i felt my recovery had levelled off (below where i felt i needed to be) and I now feel like im not alone again.
There will be help available to you but you may have to push for it.
