Ahead of the Government's announcements on reforms to social security, Mencap's policy team are working hard to try and stop people with a learning disability from losing out by sharing key examples with Government.
We'd like to know:
- If you or a family member with a learning disability had experience getting social security support that has enabled them to move into work and to live their life the way they want? For example using social security payments to pay for transport to the Job Centre, job interviews, or travelling to work.
- If you or a family member with a learning disability had negative experiences with the social security system which have led to material hardship, food insecurity, housing issues or poor health outcomes? For example, having to go through the appeals process, not having accessible info, having sanctions.
If so, please respond to this post or email policyshapers@mencap.org.uk with a short summary.
Examples can be anonymous and will really help us make our case to Government!
