Hello,

I'm posting this on behalf of Charlotte Nutting who is conducting some research. Please contact her directly with any questions about her research.

............

A research study about Radiotherapy that involves people who have a Learning Disability and Cancer.

Hello, my name is Charlotte Nutting. I’m registered Learning Disability Nurse and Social Worker and a PhD research student. The easy read title of my research is ‘What is Radiotherapy like for people with Learning Disabilities who have cancer, and the family members, paid carers and professionals who support them?’.

The objective of the study is to develop a framework to optimise Radiotherapy decision making, treatment and post-treatment support that involves people with Learning Disabilities who have cancer.

I’m recruiting people aged 18+ in England to interviews to explore their experiences. The study may be of interest to people as detailed below, and you'll find links to information sheets if you’d or someone you know would like to find out more:

-people who have a Learning Disability and cancer who in the last five years have had Radiotherapy, or for whom Radiotherapy was a treatment option but a decision was made not to have Radiotherapy. docs.google.com/document/d/...

-paid carers and social care professionals and healthcare and medical professionals who have in the last five years supported a person with a Learning Disability and cancer who has had Radiotherapy, or a person for whom Radiotherapy was a treatment option but a decision was made not to have Radiotherapy.

As detailed in the information sheets, interviews with people who have a Learning Disability and interviews with family members can be in-person or online via Zoom or Teams. Interview with paid carers and professionals would be online via Zoom or Teams. It’s anticipated interviews would last up to sixty minutes.

The study has a short introductory video tinyurl.com/RTLDstudy and a website tinyurl.com/IDandRadio

If you or someone you know would like to ask questions about the research, find out more and/or express an interest in an interview, my university email is c.nutting@shu.ac.uk and my university phone number is 0114 2255989.

Kind regards, Charotte Nutting.
