My daughter is in a care home with 2:1 support 24/7.When she has meltdowns she breaks her own valued items like phones and xbox, she damages her furnishings, punches holes in plasterboard walls and smashes light switches and thermostats etc. I keep being sent invoices to pay for damage. Ie to replace staff spectacles broken during meltdowns and for replacement light switches, safety doors/ gates etc
At a recent meeting it was proposed that the home want to "sink" such electrical items within theÿ walls of his annex, due to electrical health and safety risks. They asked for a funding contribution. No one from comissioning or social services was at meeting. They also want her to contribute to new sensory lighting and themed redecoration. If her " behavioural needs" dictate work must be done should she be required to contribute to health and safety changes? And how do you calculate what affordable proportion of the cost should be covered by tge client?
If staff spectacles are broken during restraint should the home or client replace them?
Thanks for any guidance.
