Ok ... My daughter has now secured a single occupancy home which is amazing. It's a LA rental however It was in a very poor state damage was done by previous tenants. Not to mention the smell and smoke damage from smoking! The landlord finally resolved some issues once we forced them. We have had to do a lot ourselves but due to it's location to me it was worth it. My advice is keep your loved ones near so you can pop in and ensure they are ok. Walking distance or a short drive. My daughter has been badly treated and this is her forth attempt to be independent with support. Just like everyone on here it has been traumatic and at times soul destroying.
Our Local authority refused to allow me to become part of my daughters team ( Direct Payment) I have received no financial support and my daughter has lived back at home for over 2 years. Also advised staff employees will still be paid regardless if they are onsite or not. I asked the LA if we could have a contract of hours per week with a degree of flexibility it was refused. So this is where the waste of public money appears they are paid for services that are never delivered. No flexibility in contracted hours or payment for families who want to create a normal pattern of living. Eg 1 weekend every month she's away and doesn't need the care. This doesn't leave remove for the person to decide what they prefer to do with their own lives.
Now waiting on a care provider to appear to deliver the service :
What advice do you have for my first meeting with them ? How can I ensure they will be the right fit for my daughter? Eg that they can cook, clean go on walks take her out - Living standards etc Personal care is a massive concern as is eating healthy and keeping her weight down.
