Thank you to everyone who has helped me in the past with sound advice. My young person is in a supported living service and is being told by another resident to do things: Shout at a non verbal resident and lately, spit at staff (although staff dissuaded them and they actually spat on the floor). After I heard the resident had asked my child to shout at the non verbal resident I complained and was told it would be dealt with. My feeling is that by requesting my child to do these things, this is grooming or at least coercive and controlling behaviour which will further escalate over time. I keep raising safeguarding issues, the last one being because a different resident hit my young person. Is it right you only have 48 hours to raise a safe guarding after the incident has occurred? Is the above a safeguarding issue? I know that raising one is not taken lightly. Who is at fault here, the resident (who is extremely high functioning) or the staff? Any help and advice appreciated.

You can report a safeguarding whenever you feels it’s right to do so and there’s no time limit as far as I’m aware. I would also go to the manager with your concerns because this isn’t right and if they don’t do anything you will go higher up and I would say everyone involved in this has a part to play and staff should be dealing with this absolutely no question in my mind. If the manager doesn’t do anything and she doesn’t tell you what she’s done escalate it otherwise it will only get worse
