parent going into care costs

Does anyone have experience of a parent of a disable adult going into care and the impact of having to pay for that care of the disabled person? The local authority say that even though this will impact the disabled person they are not willing to discuss. Any advice out there?

Thanks

There are lots of variables.

Does the person own property or have savings over £23,000 (not sure on the savings figure)? If not then the LA will meet the costs and the person will pay a contribution towards their care from the benefits they receive after a financial assessment has been carried out.
