What is the current position under COVID with regards to taking people with learning disabilities out into the community/for a drive to support their emotional well being?

To go out or not to go out?
Hi Lewis42, it’s a difficult one, we’re supposed to stay local but I’m sure there are exceptional circumstances to support someone’s emotional well-being. Hoping someone can confirm for you today, I have seen a previous post on here confirming this so will have a look. I’ve already suggested making an easier system where you can find answers to similar questions as topics keep getting repeated. Good luck
Thanks for you reply, we stay close where possible but some of our clients don't have anything suitable nearby so we need to make a short drive, currently operating on a case by case basis and have what we feel is a reasonable explanation for travel if we're questioned.
That's great
what is the distance a short drive is ? 5 miles or 50 miles?
I think you have to use common sense, I would say round about 5 miles would be ok, 50 is way too far. There are some exceptional circumstances but it’s hard to know what they are, so can’t really put a number on it. Some areas have police presence stopping and asking, depends on your location etc, so you need to be responsible for what you decide to do. I’m not an expert it is for individuals to make their own choices.
