Hiya everyone,

Just a bit of background about my health

I suffer from chronic head & neck aches

Shy bladder syndrome

Mild asthma

Chronic Fibromyalgia

I would like some advice please with my PIP application. I’ve been declined twice ☹️ the first time they declined me so I the. sent them a long letter to them to reconsider it but they’ve still declined it.

I’m trying to get some more information / proof for a possible learning disability that my mum & I think I could have as I’ve always struggled & still struggling now with my comprehension etc but I’m not sure where to go to get diagnosed as the GP has said they can’t do it as I’m 25.

The PIP people have also said that I need to provide evidence to them that I need help with my comprehension as it’s my word against them basically.

Does anyone know If I can get this done privately?

Kind Regards,

Rachel

Hi RachN, it's strange they declined you pip payments as you have chronic fibromyalgia, it is a recognised condition and people have qualified for pip with the condition. Did you gather all documented evidence re doctors/ consultants letters, anything to back up the claim. Did you emphasise how it affects you when it's at it's worst. You say you struggle with comprehension so maybe ask someone to help you complete a new pip form, if you google help to complete pip forms it will list many organisations that can help. You could give the helpline a call also 0808 808 1111. Explain what's been going on regarding your pip claim and the query learning disability and see how they can help. Best wishes. Let us know how you get on.

Good Morning RachN

Citizens advice centre can help you if you are struggling with your PIP application .I am shocked that you were told that Your GP can't help you because of you being 25 years of age. If he can't ask them to suggest where you can get it done? You could also consult a Solicitor who offer a free 30 minute consultation. Or you might find a solicitor who will be happy to take on The DWP PIP assessment team. My 19 year old son had to wait 6 month's before the PIP was awarded him. As they wanted to come and do a Home visit usually During the Time he was in college in the special needs department of a local college to us. I have told you this because I want to encourage you not to give up. If you have special needs you must be under a disabilities social worker? Or a social worker with the Adult social care team contact them because they can get you assessed for the condition that you suffer from !

I know it maybe hard for you to get the information that you need. But I know that there's someone in your area who are able to help you. As I don't know which area of the country you live in. If you contact the social services department if you haven't already got a social worker and speak to the duty social worker team and tell them what problems you are having I am sure that they can point you in the right direction. I wish you luck with your PIP assessment when you go back with the evidence that you need. Take care

Peter
