Update on trametinib (Mekinist) for low grade serous ovarian cancer
Good morning everyone We are delighted that NHS England has recommended that the MEK-inhibitor trametinib (
Mekinist
) should be routinely available as an off-label treatment option for adults with recurrent or progressive low grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC).

Off label use of Mekinist (Trametinib)
Started
Mekinist
. Bill purchased it at $10,000 per month. By December 2014 PSA had dropped to 18. Blood functioning again and did not need transfusions. He returned to full time work and took trips with family to Europe.
Mekinist
was well tolerated.

Tafinlar and
Mekinist
cleared it just as fast as it hit me. Clean scan. The next will be my experience since then, for some reason I felt the need to post something today. My name is Ryan, I’ve had melanoma since I was 21. I am 30, and I’ve now had 10 surgeries.

Update on my husband
He's been on Tafinlar &
Mekinist
ever since. Hopefully this one will be negative; apparently the doctor decided to remove it prophylactically because Tony has been NED this entire time. Hoping for the best.

M is for Mekinist
His liver enzymes are too high, an indicator that liver tumors continue to increase in size or number Because he is Wild type (V599 BRAF instead of the V600 genetic type) 2 docs have recommended trying
Mekinist
inhibitor only without the usual concomitant BRAF drug.

He continues on his Tafinlar/
Mekinist
regime. More irritable, less joy. We're very focused on our 16 year old. Tony's set a goal to see him graduate from highschool. Everything is icing on the cake after that.

Ovarian remission & aggressive recurrence within months?
And then, she went on an experimented drug usually used for melanoma called
Mekinist
and Tafinlar. Within two months, her breathing normalized, her scans were clear of tumors, and her CA 125 dropped from 1,150 to 35. It was truly a miracle. The doctor gave her remission status.

Officially on the second month, second bottle of
mekinist
. Still almost no side effects. The rash comes and goes. Never amounts to anything thank god. No fevers, had a few nights when he first started where he was close to 100.4 but never reached it. Seems like he is adjusting well to the combo.

Started treatment
My husband started his regime a week ago today; Tafinlar and
Mekinist
. Other than feeling a bit hung over and loose bowels, he's tolerating it well. He dozes in his chair much more frequently so is getting some rest.

Personal update: Here comes clinical trial #2!
It is combining Tarceva (erlotinib) and
Mekinist
(trametinib), a MEK inhibitor, and could be a good choice for my current unusual mutation status of having both EGFR and BRAF. I am incredibly impressed with Dr. Yu and with MSKCC.
