Happy New Year!

We are excited to get back to classes and walks this week, will you be joining us?

We want to kick off 2022 by hearing about your goals for the year and what's motivating you to get active or make a change?

If you have set a goal or aim for the year we would love to hear about it!

Writing it down and sharing with others can help you stay accountable, more likely to achieve your target and inspire others... so what is your aim for the year ahead?

I was going to post a similar question too! I haven’t done New Years resolutions for a long time as I felt, for me, focusing on the ‘change’ was difficult and if I had a blip when I fell back to old habits I’d beat myself up about it 😕 so now I have goals, focusing on the end point is easier, a blip isn’t a failure, and even if I don’t quite hit the goal I can see the changes I’ve made when I look back.So this year I’m aiming to make my back garden a lovely place to spend time in - some decking and lots of pretty plants!

I spend an inordinate amount of time each week planning what to feed my family and then writing a shopping list, I want to create a number of weekly meal plans so I can just pick one and know what I need to buy to make that whole process much quicker, I also want to leave spaces to try some new recipes as I feel like we eat the same 10 meals on repeat!

I’m reasonably fit but I am overweight, and as the big 4-0 approaches this summer I’m determined to change that! My ultimate goal is to lose 1.5 stone, the last of that pesky baby weight I’ve held on to for 9 years! This year though I would be ok with dropping half of that, so 11lbs by the end of the year and if I manage more then it’s a bonus 🙂 my plan is to be more thoughtful about what I eat (this ties into goal 2) and to change up my fitness routine, so I will aim to swim and use the gym each week, do an aerobics/Zumba class, and I’m looking for a tap dance class to join too.

The point you made about resolutions is really interesting! Ive always preferred goal setting; short term, medium term and long term, with the long term goal being your ultimate aim but by setting shorter more achievable goals along the way, you get to enjoy the journey along the way and celebrate success, rather than always focusing or something the may seem unachievable on day 1.

I love the idea about introducing a new meals, I got a new cook book for Christmas so will be looking to try some of those over the next few weeks.

The big 4-0 should definitely be used as motivation, how are you planning to celebrate?

Yes, interim goals keep the motivation up I think.

I’m all ears for any recipe recommendations!

I don’t have any plans for my birthday as yet, my husband is also turning 40 this year so we really should do something nice, I’d love a week somewhere warm, we’ve not been abroad for over 10 years now but the menagerie, lack of passports and school holiday constraints add up to quite a bit, perhaps we should leave them all with the grandparents and jet off for a child free break 🤔 well, we can dream!
