Hi Ros,

The subject of supplements is confusing. For a bit more guidance have a look at our information booklet called 'Nutrition and your Eyes' at the following link;

You need to look for a supplement with an 'AREDS2' formula (age related eye disease study number 2). Your GP or pharmacist should be able to help you; in some areas of the country, GPs are able to give eye supplements on prescription.

I hope that this helps

Best wishes

My Opthalmologist recommended PreserVison from Bausch & Lomb. I got them from Amazon on the net.

I have only been using them for a couple of weeks and so cannot let you know what effect that have yet.

Zealut Dena is a supplement that not only supports patients with cataracts but also diabetics. My husband is a diabetic and has been using it for almost a year. It contains lutein and zeaxanthin important carotenoids for the eye. His doctor told us it could prevent progression and further damage to the eye.

My specialist recommended I take an AREDS 2 supplement. I get mine from Amazon called Vision Defender AMD. I tried Preservision and others, but I prefer Vision Defender AMD.
