has anyone here had any experience of restoration of the flow of fluid around the affected section of the lymphatic system – for example, by connecting the lymphatic system to nearby blood vessels (lymphaticovenular anastomosis)

The results are varied, for some LVA improves drainage and can be life changing while for others there is no change which is obviously a huge (expensive) disappointment. No surgeon can say for 100% certainty there will be improvement. Generally speaking results for Secondary LE patients are better than Primary (only 10% of primary are candidates for LVA). However 2 secondary Lymphies I know had LVA with no improvement at all.

If you’re seriously considering LVA you could go for a consult and screening with Prof Furniss and Mr Ramsden (includes ICG Lymphography) at Oxford Lymphoedema Practice. The cost when I saw them in 2016 was £650 for the consult/scans, it’s probably a bit more now. The scans determine suitably for LVA and are very informative about ones Lymphatic system/faults.
