Covid shielding ending tomorrow...how are you feeling about this?

Morning Everyone 👋

Shielding is coming to an end tomorrow in England & Wales....which will affect 3.8 million people in England and 130,000 in Wales.

I just wanted to check in and see how everyone was feeling about this?

For me, it is not going to change much in the short term. Looking forward to a nice weather day where I can grab a coffee and sit outside.

Will still be wearing a mask and be compliant with current COVID policies. I do read online people are thinking this is the end, which is quite interesting.

Morning Nick. Thanks for taking the time to respond to our question! It's nice to hear about your plans to grab a coffee and enjoy the nicer weather. Do you feel any different now shielding has ended?

That is interesting that people have said about it being the end, although things are looking positive, in terms of rates of infection and the rollout in the vaccine, it will be interesting to see the impact of the restrictions being lifted. How do you feel about the roadmap out of lockdown and the different steps? Look forward to your response.

Thanks, Suzanne (Beneficiary Engagement Officer, Alex TLC)

Hey Suzanne

Hope you are well.

I am confident that the roadmap out of lockdown will work, my concern will be that people will see it as total freedom and we will lose the advantage gained from vaccination. We have a great opportunity to learn from lockdowns and hope that society will change for the better, rather than slip back in it's old routine.

Wishing you a great day!

Nick

Morning Nick,

Hope you had a lovely weekend! That is such an important point you've made, I suppose only time will tell. It does feel like society has learnt something from the previous mistakes we've made, but as you said hopefully we will continue forward for the better and not slip into some of the detrimental behaviours leading to past lockdowns.

All the best,

Suzanne
