I've traveled by plane with ITP, but my counts haven't dipped below 50K. I suppose it might depend on how far you're traveling and how long it would take to get medical help if you needed it. What did your doctor say?

I have been ok on the train and a plane. I was taking steroids when I went to the Isle of Wight. Check with your doctor as we are all different see what they say ;)

I have never heard of any reason why travelling by train could be an issue. There has been a lot of discussions, however, about flying, although there does not appear to be any conclusive evidence one way or the other. This year I have done a long haul flight and a European destination with my platelets, in both cases, in mid 20's. Check the ITP support site and also the PDSA site and talk to your haematologist who knows your history. Good Luck.

Sorry to say......There is NO definite answer to this question. Sadly we are all different so the only advice is to talk to your ITP specialist first. All cases are different and advice can only be given on an individual basis by your specialist.
