As a follow up to last months poll, what best describes your experiences of bleeding ?
Luckily I have not experienced any bleeding at all, even though my platelets have been as low as 4 when originally diagnosed in July 2006
I have had light bleeding in my gums and nose.
It just goes to show yet again how random ITP is. Some people get very heavy bleeding with platelet counts which seem relatively high whilst other people get no bleeding at all with a count as low as 4 . My specialist suggested that he would expect to see bleeding when the platelet count drops below 10 but he then went on to use the magic phrase..... "In most cases" .
My lowest count has been zero and at that point I had no bleeding! You are so right when you say we are all different.
My worse bleed was when my count was 4, I had great problems getting A&E to take me seriouoly. When they took a rountine blood test they then panicked when they saw how low my platelets were, why do they never listen to us patients as we know when we are not feeling right and that counts may be quite low
Oh I had the rash all over me so they could see I was.
