Diagnosed in July 2006, with Platelet count of 4 . Never had any previous illness in my life, so a major shock to be diagnosed at the ripe old age of 46.

How come no-one has had the condition longer than 10 years? When was ITP identified?

Nicky, I was 2 years old when I was diagnosed, I'm 42 in December and lived with it all my life, had remission when I was around 5 or 6 but constantly had blood tests and outpatient appointments till I was discharged at 15 years old. Thought I was rid of it till I was 25 when after having two vaccinations together in preparation for a possible trip abroad, it kick started again and I've had bouts of relapses on and off due to the odd strong virus going around. Subsequently since then I am being monitored again every 6 months. My doctor said to me though that even though I am technically an ill person, he very rarely sees me, which gives you an indication that this illness has rarely been an intrusive one.
