Just Starting on Rybelsus

I just began it 5 days ago and so far so good but I'm on 3 mg per day and I keep reading from another forum (facebook) where people say that going to the 7 mg dose is messing with them!

Could you share with me why that is and what I could do about it and, if you have personal experience please share.

Thank you

hi Elsie

I am now on 14 mg started 3 then 7, I also suffer from ibs high blood pressure angina and kidney stones, when I started my rybelsus I was very worried as I had read it can affect the gut but I had no affect from it. I have found tho if I take an hour before eating rather than the 30 min it’s better, only a sip of water and making sure I don’t have anything for that hour before, the only issue I had was my sugars went very low until I got my insulin and metformin sorted I was taking 1 metformin 3 times a day and 30 units of humulin insulin twice a day, I am now on 1 metformin in the morning and 25 units of insulin in the morning, I have been on the 14 mg for two weeks and so far lost 1/4 stone I am guessing it’s the reduced insulin. So it’s a 👍🏻from me, any questions please ask.

All the best lewis

Thank you so much! I've been seeing some mixed reviews on FB about it from other users. I'm currently on the 3 mg dose and it seems to be helping me curb my cravings and snacking urges. I've been waiting 1 hour or so before taking my other medications and then eating. Maybe that's why I'm not experiencing nausea like others talk about?

I'm nervous about it if they move me up to 7 mg but hearing from you sets my mind at ease. I've also been altering what and how much I eat.

Have you noticed a change in cravings and how certain foods taste? I used to have a major sweets craving. Especially chocolate. Yesterday I had over 400 calories left for the day, a heaping amount of carbs and sodium, too. So I treated myself to a small ice cream cone with chocolate and its weird but I couldn't taste it! It's like I've lost the "sweet" tastebud or something. I know we're not supposed to have the sweets but I wanted to know what it would be like and now I know.

I have found I don’t like fatty foods, I can’t have dairy due to my ibs but now don’t like any fatty meats. My portion sizes have gotten smaller as well so that’s good. I guess it’s better than the alternative tho, I know my sugars have been more stable now on rybelsus than it was on trulicity.

Are you on metformin and insulin?

This med Rybelsus is awesome. It has helped me bring my A1C down to 5.1 from a high of 9.7. I first started with the 3mg and am now on the 14mg. Been on this med since March and while I did experience some nausea and mild upset stomach it went away after about a week. It has also helped me lose 50lbs as well. I also take with metformin. I should be the poster child for this drug...even though I'm 50 - onlinecheappills.com/semagl...

The 3 mg is just the intro dose and didnt have much effect on my blood sugars. After a month on this you go up to 7mg. Im on my second month on this level and it is just having a great effect on blood sugars. So much so that i think i need to drop one of my other meds. It does make me feel a bit nauseous but if i take it very early in the morning and not eat for about 2 hrs im ok. I have definitely noticed i am unable to eat much in one go.

Im sure you will be fine

I've gone through the 3mg, finish the 7mg tomorrow (07/06/24) and start the 14mg on Saturday 8th June. My appetite has definitely decreased and I no longer have the urge to snack, I don't even want a beer at the weekend. I did suffer with acid indigestion initially but that has resolved itself. Like the others have said, it suits me to take it an hour before anything else. I take a lot of other medication, so I like to get the rybelsus out of the way first.Good luck, I hope it works as well for you as it does for me.

Thanks everyone and Walking. I was taken off Rybelsus because of an upcoming colonoscopy and having a bad reaction due to having a hyperactive gall bladder. If you have gall trouble this is not for you. But I wonder if one of the injectables would do better?

Hi Elsie.Sorry to hear that you're having issues, hopefully they'll get you sorted sooner rather than later.

I honestly don't know if the injectables would be beneficial without causing you anymore issues. The endocrinologist wanted to give me an injectable but due to them being prescribed off label for weight loss, they are in very short supply. You might have more luck where you live. As a first port of call, I would speak to a pharmacist as they know more about medication than the doctors.

I hope all goes well with your tests and you're feeling better soon.
