xyla plan

Hi my name is Vanessa, I’m on my 18/19 week from the xyla plan, I’ve lost a total of 2 stones but can not seem to lose much more than that, I am being careful in what I eat now which is fabulous and surprising enough I don’t crave sweet stuff like I used too. I’m walking more now as well. I hope everyone is doing well. Have a good week. 👍

Hi Sedger

Well done on your weight loss. I did the NHS low calorie diet with the xyla shakes 2 years ago and also lost over 2 stones but unfortunately have put most of it back on. I felt the sudden drop off of support was difficult after finishing the programme as that kept me focused. I don't know if the supports better now but good luck with maintaining. My blood sugar and blood pressure improved considerably and I'm annoyed with myself for gaining weight again. I'm thinking about trying the weight loss drug now but don't know how easy it is to get on the NHS.

Hi Corrine, I’m trying very hard for the weight not to come back on, I weigh myself everyday as that keeps me in check but I still need to get my HBA1C below 42 now to not have tablets so hopefully I can still achieve this. I’ve started my first ever 5k Parkrun this last Saturday, I found the first loop very hard but the second easier but also taking it easy by walking and running. My brother in law gets the injection on the nhs so possibly you can too. Good luck x

Hi SedgerThe Parkrun should help with fitness and blood sugar control. I have painful knees so don't think I could do that. I do try to walk a lot though.

I'm interested that you say you have to keep your HbA1 below 42 or have to take tablets. My HbA1 was 48 last time and I wasn't offered tablets, just told to continue using diet to control it. Just wondering if I should be on tablets as although I try to eat low carb and to keep my weight down it is a struggle. I'm just surprised no one has suggested medication to me. Did your GP say you should take tablets above 42?

Did your brother in law find it easy to get the weight loss injections if you don't mind me asking? I'd prefer to lose weight naturally but realistically I've been trying for years now so haven't been very successful apart from when I was on the NHS lcd scheme.

My HBA1C used to be 53 and when it was that the nurse said let’s see about tablets and I said no I don’t want that and she suggested to the doctor that if I can be accepted onto the xyla diet and I was, but I am assuming after it if my HBA1C doesn’t go down then I would have to go on tablets which I don’t want to happen. I wouldn’t know about my brother in law in how it happened so I can not say. X

Thanks for your reply. I wonder if when your HbA1c gets to say over 50 they put you on meds? Losing 2 stone brought me into the non diabetic range which was great and I could walk downstairs easily for the first time in ages without going down 1 step at a time!

Good luck in your progress, sounds like you're doing all the right things.
