I've tested my blood sugar with an at home finger prick monitor and my fasting morning reading was 6.1mmol. I've done it again 2 hours after eating my evening meal and its still 6.1mmol...which is surely good? But don't understand the High Reading in the morning

Hello,

"A fasting blood sugar level less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) is normal. A fasting blood sugar level from 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is considered prediabetes. If it's 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests, you have diabetes"

Your reading shows you are moving towards Type 2. Life style change, regular exercise can help towards a healthy life.!, This can be difficult, it takes time. Give it a try before going into medication. Watch out for hidden and free sugar in food and drinks, read the label for carb and calories. Give time between even meal and breakfast, always try to eat evening meal before 7PM.

What is the high reading in the morning?

You can go for HbA1c blood test this gives the average over 90 days.

My reading in the morning was 6.1mmol and it was the same 2 hours after my evening meal. I have already started to change my diet i was just wondering if antibiotics/infection or any other medication could have affected this xx

Thanks,

Every medication has side effects, people in hospital bed do get increase in blood glucose.

You need to read all the information given with the medication.

If you look at COVID-19, there were many reports of different people's reaction to medication.

Life style, cutting down on food intake, get a small dish and plate to take small quantity of food.!!!!
