Is moving a patient to general ward means there is a recovery?

Hi everyone, as I said before my bf had a brain hemorrhage which caused many other complications, I was told that he breaths hardly the past week but this week he started to breath well, and today he undergone a VP Shunt and they moved him to the general ward, also he is still unconscious, so does that means there's a recovery that he doesn't need to be in ICU anymore?

From what you have said here - it looks like he is stable enough to move out of ICU - a victory at present

So his unconsciousness has nothing to do with him being in ICU? I mean he doesn't need to be in the ICU even when he's unconscious?

That I couldn’t tell you but if they have dropped him down to the wards - they must think he can hold his own.

Has he gone to HDU? Perhaps?

No he was moved directly to the general ward, they told me that his unconsciousness is a bit better than before

? What a weird reply - @Yujina that makes no sense to me. There is something called the Glasgow coma scale(?) I must stress I have no medical training but on the face of it - it sounds weird

Lol same here I don't understand, I'm not with him right now, I'm just getting in touch with his family, that's what they're saying

Hi Yujina. My mum has also been moved to a ward today (cardiology). She is conscious now we are told as she opens her eyes and closes them spontaneously and responds a little to pain being inflicted but she does not focus on anything. She had a tracheostomy fitted yesterday and they are really happy with her breathing and she is off the oxygen.

I have to admit that I was a little shocked this morning when they called to say they were moving to a ward and I’m a little panicky about her not having the 1-2-1 care but we have been reassured that she is deemed fit to be on a ward and out of ICU.

My mum is apparently a 9 out of 15 on the Glasgow coma scale and an M4 on the motor part of the scale (scored out of 6 I do believe) but she was originally a 3.

Hoping the best for them both and that this is a positive move.

Thankyou, she’s still very very poorly but I’m happy she is making small steps. Oh the agony of waiting for news is just awful, I really do feel for you. Could you not maybe give some questions to your bf’s family and ask them to try and get some answers for you to ease your mind x

Because this is my first time talking to them, I'm a bit worried & I don't want they feel I'm asking a lot, so I just keep asking simply from time to time but I'll wait few days and I'll ask for more infos, I think this is way better
