I've had a bruise on my arm since Nov and look like an IV addict. It's embarrassing! Anyone know how to make it fade????

Know what you mean have weekly INR done. I was once asked by nurse taking blood what are all those holes/bruises on your arm, I explained she said oh thought you where a druggie!!!! was so shocked could not say anything.

Dont know how to get rid of bruise always where long or 3/4 sleeve.

Hi Julieej, I am sorry I don't know but if it has been there so long, perhaps you should get it checked out by your doc? as a precaution. Hope you are ok otherwise

As an added piece of advice, Arnica is great for bruising in a healthy person, but would or can affect your warfarin and potential bleed - so this I would think is not an option for those of us APS sufferers.

When I bruise it can often take months to fade. I still have the shadow of a bruise where I dropped a bottle on my foot and that was probably a good 12 months ago and before I was on warfarin so it's not just that that prolongs the bruising. Hmmm ...was on aspirin and plaquenil though ....

I miss my arnica....can't use it now with the warfarin. I'm always bumping into things and dropping things so it would sure come in handy. I used to use it a lot. It also helped with my swollen feet and I can't use it for that any more ...so frustrating.

I have .had mine too for months its gradually fading. I have asked to have my blood taken out of other veins

On important occasions I use foundation. but not on the day its taken ? try not to lift anything heavy on the day you have your blood test Worth a try anyway

Good luck

Always ask for the "other" arm to be used for the blood draws, never let them use the same one time after time.

I find massaging some moisturiser in a couple of times a day with firm pressure helps. Also getting some exercise such as brisk walking helps bruises heal up. I do use Weleda arnica ointment to rub in to bruises sometimes, you wouldn't want to take arnica orally of course. I really don't think rubbing a small amount of ointment on the skin will harm you... but check with the doctor or pharmacist if you are concerned.

Having said this my inner elbows don't look very nice with years of pin pricks so I usually wear long sleeves.

try Hirudoid Cream. My mum had bruises/clots etc and always used it, so does my doctor who has varicose veins, too, and now being on Plavix I'm getting bumps/bruises. I found it quickly/cheaply at chemists
