Is it possible for Anti-phospholipid Antibodies to attack other molecules (hormones or minerals) in the blood cell?

I was recently told it does effect hormones. I was recently told a hysterectomy would be beneficial because of the flares I was having. I started to show symptoms of APS when I was 17 and just got pregnant with my first child. With each pregnancy my symptoms got worse and new complications arose. So best thought to eliminate the hormones.

Thank you for the reply! I am only guessing, but I think it could be possible that the antibodies attack more than just phospholipids (i.e. Minerals like: Iron, Vit. D, etc.; Hormones like: thyroid hormones that can cause issues). I'm not certain but it sure seems possible. I am not a Dr. nor a scientist, but maybe someone is here that can confirm it, or not.

Would you be so kind to ask for me because it is impossible for us to be there for it. :D

Hi BK2006,

Personally I do not think the doctors know so much about APS. Prof Graham Hughes knows a lot. That is a fact. It is a new illness and it involves several other autoimmune conditions. We learn from eachother on this website. We must also learn to listen to our own body because only you know how you feel and we are all different.

I Think your question is a bit difficult to answer.. Kerstin

My understanding is --and I am the English major from the suburbs of a rural state -- is that inflammatory hormones, such as estrogen, stimulate autoimmune reactions. So, no, the antibodies don't directly attack estrogen rather, the estrogens act as antibody cheerleaders,"Goooooooo antibodies!".
