Have you ever had a strange experience such as feeling that you cannot speed up when walking?

I always get in people's way, I need a lot of space round me and I think I find it hard to judge spaces

This is sometimes called 'problems of accommodation' - nothing to do with where you live! Perhaps you don't 'accommodate' or allow enough space for things or people, especially when you're on the move. Do you bump into people and/or things? Do you trip over things, scrape yourself against walls or catch yourself on door frames? If any of this rings a bell, you may have dyspraxia. Have a look at these:

Yes especially on even little inclines. I just hit a wall. But even normal walking I have a maximum speed and it is very slow.

I do bump into thing, I consider my social awareness is bad unless I concentrate. I also find if I look around at something I veer off to one side or another. Also once I have run out of steam I no longer walk in a straight line.

. I took the question to mean a weird feeling rather than physical inability and answered yes. I often feeling like I'm moving in extreme slow motion, like in a nightmare. Crossing roads is terrifying. All my limbs feel like they are really heavy and moving through soft wax. The experience usually ends with an anxiety attack either due to fear or lack of oxygen as my breathing slows.

Trying to analysis what's happening to me has taken some time, but I'm fairly sure I don't actually slow down - on occasion I've managed not to freak out and continue walking, and when the sensation passes I haven't lost that much time. In calm moments, I've conspired that my brain speeds up so much I get disoriented. This ought to be easy to check by comparing my movement to other moving objects, unfortunately I have atrocious depth perception, and however many times I experience this it never fails to unnerve me so I can't think of anything else. Has anyone else had this - I mean the sensation of slowness rather than actual in ability?

Related more to the other posts, I'm more likely to get the inability to do things in my arms - eg, picking up a block of cheese and thinking its somehow stuck to a table or thinking I've been locked out as its inconceivable that I suddenly can't open a door.

YES!!!!!! I've had that crazy feeling since I was a kid. I was the fastest girl in elementary school - I was always racing the boys and other girls. There were many times, and again later when I played basketball for 7 yrs, where I felt like I was in slow mo - but I wasn't. I married someone who does karate, and he said that is 1/4 timing where your mind is faster than your body and people work years to acquire that 'skill'. I have also been in a fight or flight situation where it happened and I did dodge as fast as I needed to but was frightened that I was going to get hit.. hope that helps. One of the biggest issues with this disease is that feeling like no one understands.. I do.
