Hi

Your best bet would be to have a chat with your GP and explain how you feel and tell him/her your fears and get your OH to have a test and possibly an inoculation against it.

I am a Hep B carrier and have been for thirty years or so and am still not sure if it is going to jump up and get me.

It is funny but I am hep B carrier and my wife had hep C for years (from the old days of nursing) but we never infected each other and we have been together for nearly 40 years.

Good luck and kindest regards

Terry

Hi cim45,

As Terry mentioned above, it is very important that you speak to your doctor, and to relate your fears and concerns with him/her. Hepatitis treatments are changing all the time, and as new drugs are tested and approved treatment options change. Unfortunately, there is currently no "cure" for Hep B. The current treatment is designed to lessen the damage the virus does to your body, and to bring the virus "under control". Again, it would be best to speak to your doctor about treatment options.

Hepatitis B is passed easily from person to person through blood and sexual fluids. You mentioned that you and your partner are having unprotected sex. Unprotected sex is considered a "high risk" activity for passing Hep B to your partner. We would urge your partner to be tested for Hep B. If they do hot have Hep B, they may wish to consider vaccination.

We hope that this answers some of your questions. Please feel free to contact us directly (through the messaging option here) if you require any information, resources, or support.
