What myths or misconceptions have you encountered about Hep C?

Have you heard any misinformation presented as fact? What are the most common myths you've have heard about Hep C?

When my wife had a heart attack the doctor who was giving her an angiogram said (reading the notes) "I see you have Hepatitis C" to which my wife told him she has been cured of it. He argued that it was not possible to be cured of hepatitis and in the end he disappeared for a while, when he came back he begrudgingly relented that she did not have it anymore but treated her really roughly and left her with so much bruising she looked like someone had pummelled her with a hammer.

They do not like being told by a patient that they are wrong and the patient being right.
