I am new here. I have flip flopping sensations in y chest, sometimes it happens when I bend over and get up from sitting down. I have noticed that I do sometimes have a tendency to hold my breath without really realizing it. Other times, I am breathing normally. I have been to the hospital many times and it just disregarded as anxiety or a panic attack. I have told my doctor about it and he says it is the same thing. Does stress cause arrhythmias also? I would like some insight thanks!

You could ask for a referral.to an Electrophysiologist ,they are the specialists in this area.Have they run any monitoring test s on you?

best wishes

Yes, I had an echocardiogram, stress test, and 24 hr monitor. All came back normal. They happen randomly, especially when I least expect it and sometimes under stress.

I have had these for 43 years, doctors do not feel they do any harm, I,m 71 so that is right. Unfortunately mine became Svt attacks 12 years ago which have got worse as I,ve got older requiring drugs to put it back from 196 beats a minute, awaiting ablation. It definitely affects your life so I sympathise with you. Because they are random an ecg does not pick it up so you will need a 24 hour monitor.

Thank u! I told the doctor that it probably didn’t pick in just one day. And they sure are random.

I have the same tendency to hold my breath as you do. I thought it was just me 😉

Arrhythmias can be mistaken for symptoms of anxiety and stress can be a cause.

24 hour monitoring is really a waste of time and effort in the case of people experiencing occasional arrhythmias. If nothing is recorded it is illogical to conclude that there isn’t a problem - it is not possible to prove the non-existence of anything.
