Hello All,

I was hoping for a little advice regarding declaring existing conditions on travel insurance. I realise it is always better to be a honest as possible to avoid voiding the policy, but I also do not want to exaggerate anything and increase my premiums unnecessarily. So to my question.

I have mitral valve prolapse with moderate regurgitation, which I have declared, but it has also been noted that I have Incomplete Right Bundle Branch Block. I may be wrong, but I believe this is likely due to the valve problem and not really a separate condition? It is possible to select RBBB as a condition on travel insurance, but it does not distinguish between 'Incomplete' and 'Complete'. I was under the impression that complete block would be more important to declare.

Furthermore, the insurance has the option to select heart rhthym disorders. I suffer from noticeable palpitations, but again feel this is a result of the valve problem. Also, couldn't a Branch Block be considered as heart rhthym disorder?

It all seems a little confusing and I'm wondering whether I'm overthinking all these conditions and unnecessarily increasing my premium.

Any opinions on this would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Have you spoken to an insurer or are you ticking boxes on a website? Years ago when I as "merely" suffering from hypertension there was no extra premium for taking one medication but a supplement if taking two - this only came to light in discussion.....

I work on the principle that if they can avoid paying out then they will so it's important you have an agreed position.

Maybe speak to someone on the phone? Sometimes you need GP to say you are fit to travel. Declare everything - my husband had heart attack abroad and there was a delay before they confirmed he was covered ( we were racking up private treatment in the meantime) We use Saga - expensive but cover pre existing conditions.
