Hi, i am trying to find out if there is such a thing as INR funding. My friend was borneith cardiomyopathy, she has her blood checked twice a week.

Her gp surgery has stopped home visit inr visits. The cheapest machine is £300, obviously my friend is on benefits and cant afford that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

she should complain to her practice and to the Chief Executive of the local integrated care board if she’s in England. The NHS can’t just withdraw home visits if the patient is housebound. It may be in the NHS’s interest to buy your friend a machine to do home testing (as it’s cheaper than a member of staff visiting often) but it won’t be a rapid decision as they would have to be sure your friend is capable of doing the tests and managing their dose with some sort of support and training. It’s not complicated but it’s not as easy as using a phone either. These decisions are usually above the level of the practice.
