Although I chose Lamb and Chicken, I very rarely have Lamb. Must be about 3 times in 5 years. But do have portions of Roast Chicken about every 10 days. Good poll.

This is great to hear. I eat a beef roast every so often, too. I haven’t had a chance to try a chicken roast, yet.

Thank you for saying that about the poll.😀👍

I love all of these, I voted for beef but have not had beef since last Oct when I was Dx’d. I moved to a 90% plant based but plan to buy a rib-eye soon

Oh my mouth waters at the thought of a joint of beautiful roast Yorkshire Spring Lamb.

What do you have with the lamb?😀👍

Oh always fresh vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Mint sauce is always a good addition x

They all sound good together with the roast.😀👍

I tend to make a proper roast about twice a year, and it'll usually be beef. I've been getting better at learning how to cook it well :)

I did just get a new slow cooker that rotisserie cooks, and I suspect I'll make a couple more now, especially in the novelty phase. Roasting joints are just a bit expensive unfortunately.

How long does it take to do in a slow cooker?😀👍

Cooper27 profile image
Cooper27Administrator in reply toActivity2004

Around 8-12 hours in a slow cooker, or an hour in a pressure cooker :)

Thank you for letting me know that, @Cooper27. We might have to do a roast in a stove instead of a slow cooker.😀👍

Sorry, I just realised I mixed up my words, we have a new air fryer that rotisserie cooks, which takes about an hour :) the slow cooker kinda steams it, which is why it takes a lot longer.

That’s okay! No sorry necessary.

This sounds great and we might be able to use the air fryer for the roasts.😀👍

8 hour cooked leg of lamb with cauliflower cheese, ratatouille and roast potatoes - I can taste it already!

chicken 😊 because sage and onion stuffing comes with that 😋

Unfortunately, my dad has a thing for making onion gravy regardless what meat we have for roast 🤔

It’s annoying. I don’t like bits in my gravy.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply toSchnoodle2017

Can you ask your dad not to add gravy for your piece of the roast or is it added in the roast already?😀👍

I love gravy itself. I just wish dad would leave out the onion lol. Especially when it’s a chicken roast. Onion gravy is better with meat lime beef.

That’s a great idea for meat lime beef roasts.😀👍

oh dear, bloomin iPad 😤😀

I’ll translate if iPad lets. “Onion is better with meat like beef” .

Thank you iPad! 😊

Thank you for letting me know that. Autocorrect doesn’t always do what we want sometimes. Onion and beef do go well together for roasts.😀👍

Roast dinners are a lot of work and take up too much time. Even before I became vegan I never bothered. The only day people get a roast dinner is Xmas day. Plus I prefer a curry.

Oh yummy, I do love a good nut or veggie roast, with all the trimmings and thick gravy 😋

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply toKitten-whiskers

That sounds really delicious, Debs. I haven’t had a nut roast, yet. Which nuts can be added?😀👍

Kitten-whiskers profile image
Kitten-whiskersAdministratorVegan star in reply toActivity2004

I would say any, when I make mine I add courgette as that will help keep it most and some orange or yellow peppers to add a little sweetness once they are roasted

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply toKitten-whiskers

Thank you for letting me know this. I will have to see if we can get the peppers soon. Would peanuts or walnuts work as a substitute for courgette nuts?😀👍

Kitten-whiskers profile image
Kitten-whiskersAdministratorVegan star in reply toActivity2004

Courgette as in the vegetable, sorry, I think you refer to it as a zucchini, it retains water, so helps stop the roast drying out, yes its common to use walnuts and chestnuts, sometimes I just use a bag of mixed nuts

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply toKitten-whiskers

Thank you, Debs. I love zucchini. Mixed nuts are always used in my house so this is going to be great once I get a few zucchinis.😀👍

My favorite roast is chicken because it stems back to my childhood when we would have it as a Sunday roast with the family over and surrounded by my loved ones. Treasured memories❤️

I would love to try the Nut Roast some time though as I've never had it before😀

I never had a nut roast before, yet, either. A beef roast a few times, though.

It’s great to hear that a chicken roast brings back memories of your childhood, Lotus-Blossom . 😀👍

I love lamb but my boys hate it and we usually end up with a chicken as our favourite beef is pricy
