That's great to hear, Nimrod2 . I like a lot of the berries and a lot of the ones listed for the poll. I miss Grapefruit, but it's one fruit I had to give up for medication reasons. I use to eat it whenever it was possible years ago, though.
I'm planning to have some cherries added to a cottage cheese and fruit salad today, katwin . Haven't had cherries in a while now, though. I usually have mango mixed in with Greek yogurt.
I also like to eat apples, but then I eat a piece of cheese to counter act the action of the acid on my teeth. So in the end the apple might not be so low carb as first thought!
It would be better if you just Goggled Moon Grapes. They are seedless, crunchy and very sweet!!! You might just pass when you see them in produce as I did for so long…Not any more!!! They are super great!!
When I bring home a punnet (or box) of cherries I can't wait to rinse them and eat them au naturel!! With blueberries I would add them to Greek yogurt or with Bran Flakes and oat milk!
Not sure about carbs. But love most fruits. Just eat them raw. Never cooked. Tangerines. Strawberries and raspberries at weekends. Mainly plums and peaches in the week
Hi Activity2004,No, not that frequently unfortunately. I always seem to be pushed for time, so usually just have berries. I mainly use this recipe if the plums are a bit tough or lacking in flavour, it's a Nigella Lawson recipe. 😀
Yes, and they have very high levels of antioxidants. I buy frozen and eat different berries each day with homemade high probiotic (medical-grade) yogurt: blueberries, cherries, organic stawberries, , raspberries/blackberries.
Not sure, very creamy but slightly bitter. Fat free which is good. I use Quark in same way as yogurt or cream. A tablespoon stirred through soup gives it a smooth texture and taste.
Also love grapes, peaches and nectarines ...but not the way they are chilled in supermarkets. Some peaches claim to be 'Ready to eat' and a couple of days later, you cut into it and often the stone has become mildew, although the flesh still not ripe enough. I also wish they wouldn't sell strawberries and berries such as raspberries & blackberries, in plastic punnets! However much I inspect the punnet, when I reach home, I always find one or two squashed against the plastic bow...and growing mould...cardboard boxes are best! For the same reason, I like fruit on paper not plastic bags! What a moaner, eh?!🤣
I always struggle to make fresh fruit and veg last, and agree that fruit packaging doesn't make the cut a lot of the time! I've bought apples in a bag of 6 before from Tesco and got home to find the middle two were both brown and almost rotten where they'd been pressed against each other... rob!
We bought some peaches recently and they are free stoned peaches. I had one in my fruit/cottage cheese salad today for lunch. Tasted good, but they should be easier to get the seed removed.
I like a plum, and I'm a fan of strawberries, they've grown on me for sure. Sometimes I like to make fruit salad and smoothies (Buying variety usually ends up being too much for me to eat it all in a fruit salad before it goes off, so the rest has to go in the smoothie!) with banana, apple, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and mango as a baseline. I've made some with oranges, kiwi, pear, grapefruit and red/black grapes before as well to mix it up. I know apple, banana and pear are more carby but in a fruit salad I only put half and get about 4 or 5 portions out of the full thing. It's nice in the summer and easy to portion out to take to work.
That's how we do the apples, too. We cut the apples in half and split them between myself and my mom when we have them for our fruit/cottage cheese salad. We did that today, too.
That sounds good. I usually have the small oranges since they are less carbs. than the big/regular oranges. Strawberries and bananas on cereal is a good idea. My mom puts bananas on cereal during the week and sometimes has one during lunch on the side.
You asking about low carb, or fruit in general? low carb: blackberries, avocado. You can't really touch mango or pineapple, sadly, on low carb, but I do love them too!
Thank you for that information, amykp . It was mostly low carb. fruits.
We eat a lot of avocados when we have salads and as something to add on the side-- depending on what we end up eating at the time.
Blackberries are great for fruit salads (when we can get them) and on the side/on their own. I get blackberry Greek yogurt now and then and have that on the side for lunch when at home.
Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries. These are all great with Greek yogurt. I got tired of the expense at the store so now I have my own blackberry and raspberry canes. We'll add blueberries next year.
My favorite low carb fruits are tangerine, honeydew melon, watermelon, berries (80g) and an apple. I love my fruits with my natural plain onken yoghurt. Above all it is really good for my friendly good gut bacteria. Plus it is my favorite breakfast in the morning and sometimes with weetabix or oatabix. What I call heaven in a bowl.
I really enjoy my low carb fruits but in moderation.
Thank you for including me in your polls and keep them coming as I really enjoy taking part in them.
Thank you, Lotus-Blossom . We enjoy doing polls for everyone and glad you enjoy participating in them with us. When we have a new poll coming soon, we will let everyone know what the topic will be dealing with— along with healthy eating/theme.😀👍
