I started eating gluten free 6 years ago because I was having cramping and other issues dealing with wheat and gluten as an intolerance.

Great poll, Hidden !😀👍

I have experienced two reactions with nuts, macademias have made me very queasy so I avoid them and walnuts irritate my tongue badly but I love them. Almonds in thier brown skins have the same effect, this has only happened post menopause and I had the advice of a consultant that women are inclined to develop allergies and sensitivities then.

I am intolerant of any make of cola (including Coke and Pepsi) and have been for many years now.

The stuff is revolting anyway, I was once at a motorway services and saw someone pouring this dark gunk into a machine and then realised it was the 'coke' mixture, at that point I decided I wasn't odd not liking cola, it looked like tar.

I am intolerant to nightshades as I have arthritis in my fingers. Gluten because of M.E. Dont eat soya because of hypothyroidism and avoid onions and leeks as they bring on rhinitis. Otherwise I love my food.

I have a few intolerances: wheat/gluten and dairy, I can tolerate a little soya, but I can't tolerate Tofu and I struggle with some other legumes too.

I take Cetirizine permanently for my allergies (10mg.), and this does help to control them. Unfortunately, my Mum was very allergic prone and we all have hayfever!

I am intolerant to cows milk only . I have tried goat and sheep milk but to be honest didn't like the taste. Easily sorted - almond or oat milk for cereals, cooking etc. and Greek yoghurt made with sheep milk is lovely. But, I am naughty and still have cows milk in my two daily cuppa's , I can't change that!!

I can’t have citrus in any form as I get swollen eyelids, wheezing and get migraine. I am also intolerant to coffee and wine and walnuts and peanuts give me a really itchy throat.

At one time I thought I was lactose intolerant, I still do not like milk, especially cold, but I eat cheese and other things with lactose in them, however Italian shop bought ready meals like Carbonaro etc really upset my stomach so I try to steer clear of them now... 😀😆

Garlic, strawberries, grapefruit, broccoli, cauliflower and kale are not friends of mine. I miss them but the break up was bad. Garlic especially, it sends me to hospital in a serious lupus and mast cell flare. I miss garlic though as it makes things taste so good. But I can never eat it again. I'm getting more and more allergies each week at the momentum since my vaccines. I'm hoping things will settle soon 🤞

My most extreme allergy is non food related. Anaphylaxis to UV light from the sun and halogen light bulbs. Thank goodness for LED!

in reply tohappytulip

Hi happytulip I sympathise with your food as I can never eat wholemeal bread or anything with traces of gluten and know that it’s a life sentence.

It’s also interesting that your vaccines are making you more sensitive so it must be very scary your allergy to UV light it also sounds very restrictive on your life style. So you have my sympathies and admiration for dealing with them as is.

Maybe not a true allergy, but I chose "wheat" because bread can make my stomach feel uncomfortable when I pay attention.

Being coeliac I can’t have wheat, gluten and need to eat gf oats. Ordinary oats give me stomach cramps! Also porcini mushrooms make me nauseous so steer clear of all wild mushrooms.

Wow, Jerry! This is a question for ME. I am allergic to many, many foods. YIKES!I recently developed rectal prolapse, had surgery which failed and am scheduled for another surgery.

Reason is: My colon swelled so much so many times that I've got excessive length of colon now, and it's not able to stay inside my body.

I had inflammation from albuterol sulfate, magnesium sulfate, morphine sulfate, avocado, sunflower seeds, beef, fish, flour additives, and much more.

Holy cow! I'm very happy to be alive! LOL.

Point one - Soya is not a natural food for man - it's always processed before it arrives on the food counter.

Point two - some of the items you mention are constituent parts of normal food, why must we persist in taking our food apart?

Nature provided the food, don't tamper with it. We should give more time and money to discovering why people suffer from these problems rather than taking our food apart.
